For more information about taking the online Texas License to Carry a Handgun class compared to an in person Texas License to Carry class, take a look at this article. There are benefits to both options. Either way, LTC Austin wants you to have the best experience possible when getting your carry permit.
No firearms experience or knowledge is required to take the online LTC course. All information needed to pass the test at the end is provided in the course. Firearms experience is required before taking the proficiency demonstration. The proficiency demonstration is the next step to getting your LTC after the online class is completed.
This online LTC class is complete with all the most up to date Texas legislative updates.Â
Who can take the class?
Anyone from anywhere in Texas can take our official Texas Online License to Carry Class. It does not matter what city you are in! Our LTC class is certified and approved by Texas DPS statewide. Once the class has been completed, your certificate of completion, or LTC-104, will be immediately available to download.
The LTC-104 certificate is good for 2 years after completing the online concealed carry class. This means that you have 2 years to take the proficiency demonstration and submit it to DPS.Â

Proficiency Demonstration
After finishing the course, the student is provided a completed LTC-104 form. This is the certificate that will be provided to DPS to show completion of the class. The LTC-104 certificate can be brought to any Texas certified LTC instructor to complete the proficiency demonstration. When purchased with the LTC Austin Proficiency Demonstration, you will have everything needed in order to obtain your Texas Concealed Carry Permit. Everyone that takes the Texas Online LTC / CHL class will need to take the proficiency demonstration as well, and LTC Austin is here to help.
Texas Approved Online Course Provider
Don’t be fooled by other companies offering a license to carry or concealed handgun license that are not Texas Approved Online Course Providers. If they are not an approved online course provider through the state of Texas then you will not receive a Texas License to Carry. You will receive a license from a different state, not Texas. Out of state licenses do not offer the same benefits of a Texas LTC. If you choose to go through another company, please be sure they are an approved online course provider through the state of Texas and that you are actually applying for a Texas LTC.
I am certified under Texas GC 411.188 and GC 411.190 to administer the LTC Online Course (classroom instruction only).
This online class is hosted and taken through OnlineTexasLTC.com.

LTC Proficiency Demonstration
The license to carry qualification requires students to know how to safely handle and shoot a handgun from 3 yards to 15 yards. It is not a class on how to shoot. Any students that show up to a proficiency demonstration/qualification without prior handgun experience will be turned away. This is based solely on the discretion of the instructor. No refunds will be provided.
No refunds will be issued for failed LTC qualifications. At the discretion of the instruction, LTC qualifications can be scheduled again with another session purchase.
